Participatory Guarantee System (SPG)

The SPG is a project that seeks to strengthen the ecological and social quality of food production, through transparency and the exchange of knowledge at the farmers level, consumers and social organizations in Ecuador, especially linked to the Red de Guardianes de Semillas.

Its main tool is the Participatory Guarantee System (SPG flower), which, more than a control system, seeks to understand productive practices in their complexity and make visible what producers do, as well as the difficulties and expectations they have, both producers and consumers, which allows the strengthening of relationships and the construction of communities. The SPG is based on the principles of food sovereignty, favoring production for the local market; protecting agrobiodiversity and ancestral food heritage; sharing knowledge and generating value in a participatory manner.
